Anita, your work is beyond beautiful and artistic.  One of the things I absolutely love about your photographs is the warm light that shows through.  Is there a technique you use in achieving?
Thank you so much!! It’s really no trick, I absolutely love shooting in the direct sunlight. My favorite time of day is sunset when that warm, rich and Orangey Pink light shows through the sky and in the images. I stand directly in the sunlight and then place my clients to the right or the left of the sun (back lighting them) then I focus and recompose my image where I want it with a little sun flare in the lens and that’s what gives that hazy appearance.

What made you decide you wanted to be a photographer?
That is a loaded question for me but mainly my dad, he was also a photographer, and a total inspiration for me. I also really loved shooting my kids, family and friends and it has just sort of blown up from there. It is truly a passion in my life, I feel completely blessed by the outpouring of support from so many that has helped me grow and become the photographer that I am today :)
.
What do you find is the best way to promote your photography business?
Facebook!! I love promoting if I wasn’t a photographer I would be a promoter for sure! I love telling people about the things I love and Facebook has given us an amazing tool to be able to do that!
.
How would you describe your photography style?
Whimsical :) Children’s photography has captured my heart and I love the little kiddos in their element and bringing their innocence out in their photos. I think it even shows through in my engagement sessions and weddings. Fun, natural, innocent and whimsical with a vintage flare I think best describe my style.

.
Do you have a favorite area of photography such as weddings or babies and why?
Children hands down! But I absolutely love the occasional wedding and engagement sessions because they challenge me to step outside the box!
.
How do you get your clients to relax and feel natural around you?
The majority of my clients are the little clients and I have tricks up my sleeve for them. They can be difficult but being a mother has helped me with that. I think that getting to know them even asking them one question before you start shooting to build upon during the shoot and engaging with them help a lot. They love it when you get down to their level. Playing and pretend and story telling are a must. I use music and or bubbles a lot. Both are captivating for children. I could go on for hours about this but I wont I am actually in the process of writing a children’s photography workshop book called “Music and Bubbles” that will explain and teach different ways to interact with your little clients. I am hoping to release it before December 2012 so be on the lookout for that :)

.
Are you Canon or Nikon?
Canon all the way!
.
What’s your favorite lens?
Canon 70-200 L is 2.8 ii is my favorite and in the studio the 50mm 1.4
.
What tip would you give aspiring photographers?
Keep learning, don’t quit when it’s hard and take time off for your family or you will burn out.
.
Where do you see your career in 5 years?
That’s a hard one!! Hopefully I will have my second book out by then but only the good Lord knows where I will be in 5 years :)
.
Where can we find you (facebook, twitter, pinterest, etc)?
