Market your wedding photography business
Not all marketing ideas need to come with a huge price tag! I still have to put money away for the pair of Jimmy Choo’s that I sooooo have to have one day (over a rainbow)! Here is a great list of FREE ways to market your business in the wedding industry.
- Wedding Boutiques- This is a wonderful place to start your business advertising and can also be a free way to get your name out there. Boutiques need photos of new dress lines, stores, accessories, etc for their websites and brochures. By going into one of these bridal shops you are walking into a possible goldmine of advertising. Let’s face it, their client is your client.
- Find one local boutique, do not do too many at a time. Walk in with a few business cards and ask if the manager or owner has a few minutes of time to chat about a great marketing idea you may have to help them as well as yourself. Let them know that you are willing to photograph, choose an amount of time you will spend photographing and deliver them the photos for their store to use as advertising in return for you being able to leave your brochures and business cards up around their store. You can also discuss having website reciprocal links. Do not forget to sign a contract!
- Cake Shops- The next place your bride will be headed is to find her yummy delicious delights! The concept is exactly the same. Photographing some of their most beautiful cakes, deserts etc is a great way to share the marketing.

- Local DJ – Almost every wedding comes with a DJ and they are your perfect word of mouth. Lot’s of times DJ’s are booked before photographers and they are willing to pass on the names of those photographers they have had a good standing with. Make sure that during your weddings you share business cards with one another and also get a website address and email them a reminder that you would love to share reciprocal links.
- Facebook – Remember to social what is relevant to your brides. Post tips, ask engaging questions, share fun decoration ideas and more. You will see your “share” increase and your visibility grow! Your fans want to see what is important to them. Spend time giving bridal tips once a week and it does not have to pertain to photography.
- www.weddingwire.com – Create an account on weddingwire.com which is a site that many brides go to when looking for local vendors. You do not have to PAY, they also have a free listing option. It’s just below their featured vendor pricing.
